10 SEPTEMBER- first day

September 10- first day in Westminster Kingsway College

It was the first day in this college, first acting class. I've been in London for 3 weeks and I already love it.

My dream since I was a child is to become an actress and this college made me believe it can become a reality.
At first, our teacher, Rob Alexander, gave us a big paper, there were groups of 5-6 people and our group had to write the skills, so, the question is: What skills are needed to become a successful performer?
      We wrote:

OBSERVATION

As an actor, is necessary to be very observant, you have to see everything, to hear everything and to be very careful.

CONFIDENCE

Self-confidence really comes from how you see yourself. You need to trust yourself and I think to trust yourself as an actor means to be able to be in front of hundreds, thousands, or millions of people and no matter how they look at you if they judge you or whatever happens. You have to be able to continue what you have to do.

IMAGINATION

Imagination is one of the most important skills for me. A scene can always be better helped by our imagination. Creativity helps us to have no limits, to have always new ideas, to be different in a good way.

LISTENING

As a performer, you have to listen to your teacher, do what he tells you. this will help you a lot. Don't be stubborn. You have to be able to always evolve, you must be open to listening to the people who see you in action. There'll be good and bad opinions that you have to listen to and do something constructive about them.

COLLABORATION
In acting, you'll always have a team. To succeed, you have to be open, you need to have good behavior, to be respectful. Don't defy the people around you. Teamwork is very important, collaboration is essential.

VOICE

The voice is important for many reasons, one of them is that the tone you use helps you to transmit the state you have, voice can change everything in a scene.

Other groups had to write the fears that could stop you from becoming an actor. They wrote:
- habits
-being shy
-getting it "wrong"
-fear

Rob even wrote some rules for the class:
-ACCEPT
-DON'T BLOCK
-DON'T PUT DOWN

It was an amazing day, I focus on the skills that an actor needs, I think about them every day and I try to be better.
